These
are some past and present activities
of
Champaign-Urbana Altrusa
Books for Kids: Migrant
Students –
Altrusa sponsored a field trip to Pages for All Ages Book Store for 53
migrant children. They were allowed
$18 each to select and purchase their own books.




GED and CNA Scholarships – Fall & Spring –
Scholarships consist of total cost to take the tests for students each
semester.
Read
Across America – Altrusa is this year’s
local sponsor for the national ‘Read Across America’ project to promote
reading for our children.



Center for Women in Transition – Decorate and Furnish the
Education/Conference room in the new CWIT building.

United Way “Success by 6” – This is an ongoing project
to make “Book Buddy Bags” and furnish
them with appropriate books and relevant toys to be distributed to toddlers,
preschoolers and bilingual children.
Over 125 “Book Buddy Bags” have been completed to date.



Steer Place – Altrusa hosts dinner and
entertainment for residents of Steer
Place. Throughout
the year, personalized Birthday Greetings will be sent to all of the
residents.

Salvation Army – Christmas – Altrusa members will volunteer to serve
as Bell Ringers for the Salvation Army.

Adopt-A-Family for Christmas – Christmas – Altrusa will
provide Christmas gifts (from their wish list) for a family at the Center for
Women in Transition.
