More About Altrusa

Altrusa International Inc. was founded in 1917 in Nashville Tennessee, thus becoming the first service organization for professional and executive women. Altrusa achieved an international scope in 1935 with an extension into Mexico. Across the globe, Altrusa Clubs welcome business executives and professional men and women who are dedicated in serving and improving their communities.

Altrusa offers a unique opportunity to make the world a better place to live in. Clubs have their own board of directors and committees. Board and members meet regularly and each club assesses its individual community needs and makes decisions on appropriate service projects that help improve the community.

Altrusa holds an international convention every two years. Over 500 clubs participate in this event, providing opportunities for communication and networking with executives and professionals around the world.

Altrusa is represented at the United Nations as a non-governmental unit.
