Who we are
Adoptive Familes of East Central Illinois is a gathering of families that meet to help support each other in our desire to raise children in a positive, nurturing environment.
Most of our members are in the Champaign-Urbana area. Our group began as an outgrowth of our local Lifelink adoption office. As a result, our group has many children who were adopted internationally. But we are not exclusive. Anyone whose family has experienced adoption is welcome to our events.
Many of our events are social to enable children and adults to interact in a relaxed atmosphere. We generally meet between four and six times a year, with swimming events, potluck meals, and other fun activities.
As the opportunity arises, we do also have speakers. One popular recent event was a panel of adult adoptees who gave some insight into the challenges of raising children born internationally.
